Heat a heavy-bottomed saucepan and melt the butter over medium-high heat. Start whisking when the butter begins to bubble and continue whisking constantly until the butter starts to turn a brownish color and the smell of nutty caramel begins to emanate. Initially, as the butter melts, large bubbles form which then decrease as the browned butter completes cooking. Pour into a gravy boat or bowl, using all of the butter, including the brown sediment.
