Place the rump steak in a greased, oven-safe dish. Salt and pepper generously all around. Distribute most of the herb spices on the top side of the meat along with coarsely crushed and chopped garlic. Finish with sliced butter on top.

Place the meat in the oven and cook until the internal temperature reaches about 52-55 degrees C (rare), 60 degrees C (medium), and 65 degrees C (well done). A rump roast of about 1 kg usually takes about 50 minutes to reach 55 degrees C, depending somewhat on the shape and how much the meat was seared in the frying pan.
